Bad News: Samsung have decided not to release any 3DTV this year

3D TVs were all the rage a few years ago but it appears that the bubble has burst. It was reported recently that both Samsung and LG will progressively cut down on their 3D TV offerings and will ultimately eliminate them from product lineups. Samsung has now said that it’s not going to release any new 3D TVs in 2016. LG is only going to offer its most expensive 3D TVs as it cuts the number of 3D TV offerings from 40% in 2015 to just 20% this year.

Apple fighting to take off the Iphone unlocking case out of Court ASAP

If you aren't already aware, the current case involves Justice Department's request to force Apple to extract data from a locked iPhone that the government agency wants to investigate. The device in question is an iOS 7-powered iPhone 5s, meaning Apple is capable of what the agency wants, but is reluctant fearing that doing so will tarnish the trust between the company and its customers.
In a newly submitted letter, Apple has argued that the government is planning to make similar requests in future, so it's important for both parties to know what the court thinks, and that too without any further delay - the case has been dragging on for nearly 3 months now.

"Apple takes no position on whether and to what extent information from the Apple device in the government’s possession is relevant to any ongoing investigation, or necessary for the criminal defendant’s sentencing. But Apple has received additional requests similar to the one underlying the case before this Court. Apple has also been advised that the government intends to continue to invoke the All Writs Act in this and other districts in an attempt to require Apple to assist in bypassing the security of other Apple devices in the government’s possession," the company said in its letter.

iCloud has 782 million users; the company processes a whopping 200,000 iMessages per second; and 750 million worth of iTunes and the App Store purchases per week.

Samsung Galaxy S7 edge Now has the teardown treatment from iFixit

Hot on the heels of its standard Galaxy S7 teardown, the folks over at iFixit have now published its deconstruction guide for the curved variant of Samsung’s flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S7 edge. Just like its non-rounded counterpart, the S7 edge earns a rather meagre repairability score of just 3 out of 10, with 0 being the most difficult to fix. The team claims that the reason behind the scanty rating is due to convenience. For a broken USB to be replaced, the entire display has to be lifted from the frame, which is a tedious task owing to an abundance of small parts, screws and waterproofing adhesive.
Check out the teardown images below.

The Galaxy S7, S7 edge trap you into their worlds, the G5 attempts to create one

“It’s Not a Phone, It’s a Galaxy” may have seemed to some to be nothing more than a commercial jab at Apple, but it has become a philosophy for Samsung: to make its Galaxy smartphones worlds (galaxies) of their own. And this strategy is paying off big-time for the Korean giant, with the latest Galaxy S7/S7 edge unveiling being yet another opportunity for Samsung to showcase its strengths and growth over the last 12 months. If you believed the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge were enticing worlds, then you’ll be pleased to know that their successors highlight their all-encompassing nature even more.

T-Mobile Galaxy S7 Pre-Order Comes out more Early than expected

It’s hard to wait for your brand new smartphone to arrive once you’ve placed a pre-order and are just counting down the days till it ships. Pre-orders for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge were opened on February 23 and the Samsung has declared March 11 as the official release date in 60 countries. However, it’s not uncommon to see carriers ship out units ahead of time, T-Mobile did it last year with the Galaxy S6 and it appears to be doing it again with the Galaxy S7.

Samsung retained the glass and metal design of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, but the company waterproofed the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge “from the inside out” this time – taking these devices to better water resistance than their Galaxy S5 predecessor. The IP68 water and dust resistance means you can be confident that your devices will outlive the water (just make sure you read that new manual, though; it comes with some information on water and dust resistance that may save you trouble down the road).
The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge have better lowlight performance than their predecessors, meaning that photos in low light have never been as good as they’ll get with the f/1.7 camera apertures of both the front 5MP camera and the back 12MP Sony IMX260 camera. The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge now have Always On Displays that take advantage of our inherent need to “check our phones,” on average, about 150 times a day, and the Galaxy S7 edge now has quicker apps and content access so that you can spend time “swiping on the edge” and appreciating the aesthetic beauty of your smartphone while “living on the edge” for productivity.

New Miriads of Emojis onn the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge

Samsung’s new flagship handsets come with 159 new emojis as well as a number of additional emoji font changes. This is the first time that Samsung has added a new set of emoji since it released the Galaxy S5 back in 2014. Most of the additions come from Unicode 7.0 and Unicode 8.9 releases, however as we’ve seen on other platforms, some previous Unicode characters given emoji status retroactively have also been added.
Some of the new emoji that can be found in the Galaxy S7 include the robot face, hot dog, burrito, nerd face and even the middle finger. The entire list of new additions can be viewed here. The Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge come with the new emoji right out of the box and existing Galaxy devices that get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will get the new emojis as well.

Shipping notices have started to arrive for several T-Mobile customers who pre-ordered the flagship handsets from Magenta. Several reddit users reached out to T-Mobile through its official Twitter account and were told by representatives that devices that have already been ordered are being packed and getting ready to ship out on Monday, February 29. They may reach customers in a couple of days depending upon the shipping option they chose. If this is indeed true it would mean that customers would get their hands on the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge before the devices are even available in stores on March 11. Looks like several T-Mobile customers will receive the new flagships over the new couple of days, and they say Christmas only comes once a year.

I Did Not Shun Workers' Debate- Kwara State Governor

Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has denied reports in a section of the media that he shunned a debate organised by the State Joint Labor Congress yesterday in Ilorin.
Speaking through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Dr. Muyideen Akorede, Governor Ahmed said on the contrary he was unable to participate in the debate due to his attendance at the National Council of State meeting which held in Abuja on Thursday.
Governor Ahmed said he informed the Chairman of the state council of Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC) Comrade Umar Farouk of his inability to attend the event before his departure for Abuja to attend the crucial meeting, which discussed vital issues of national interest.

He commended Kwara for the organizing the debate as part of their contribution to the development of the nation’s democracy, adding that he continues to hold the leadership and membership of the state labor congress in high esteem as partners in development.

Governor Ahmed expressed a willingness to engage with the workers as part of a series of stakeholder meetings he intends to hold to deepen his administration’s engagement with the public in line with its commitment to transparency and accountability to the people.

Why I Chose To Start A Record Label- Laide Bakare

New mom, Laide Bakare who has become a mom for the 3rd time visited hiptv studio recently where she hinted that she attended New York film academy while away in the States. Laide also used the opportunity to talk about how the academy made her love music, something she was never interested in. Hear her;

“It’s an inspiration from New York film academy. When I was studying film making, I got to appreciate and understand music more than ever. Because I have been in the industry for so long and it has been movies all the way, am not a music person but right there at the New York movie academy I got to study a whole lot about music and I tend to appreciate music. Looking back here in Nigeria, there are a lot of young talent who are willing to showcase what they have and they don’t really have platform for it because most record labels are like cabals it’s difficult to break in so am gonna take up the challenge and establish a record label for upcoming talents and sell them to the whole world”.

Luis Suarez should be banned for the rest of the World Cup after appearing to bite Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini

Luis Suarez should not be allowed to kick another ball in this World Cup tournament.

Referee Marco Rodriguez clearly missed the coming together of Suarez and Italian Giorgio Chiellini and replays are clear enough to me for the Uruguayan to be charged by FIFA's disciplinary panel.
FIFA do not consult referees with regard to charging players retrospectively as they accept that if no action is taken the officials have missed the incident.

Fake Glo Agent Arrested In Gombe

A Justice of the Federal High Court, Gombe, today sentenced one Khalil Ahmed Bappa, 29, who claims to be a GLO agent to 24 months imprisonment for fraudulently extorting goods and money worth N267, 000 from a female student of Bayero University, Kano, Yusra Ali Babakusa, with assurances of making her a Glo Ambassador.
Khalil met Yusra in 2012 and promised he would make her a Glo ambassador through his contacts at the communications company, but trouble started when Khalil gave Yusra a said date to get ready for Lagos. He told her, her name had been selected and they will both need to head for Glo’s Lagos headquarters office. He also told her the company had made arrangements for her accommodation and will also be paying for her return flight ticket.

When the day came, Yusra kept calling him, but Khalil refused to pick his calls and later switched off his phone. That was when she sensed she was in trouble and she must have been duped. She later reported to the police who tracked Khalil down and charged him to court.

He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment without an option of fine on each of the two counts. The court also ordered the convict to reimburse his victim before the completion of his jail term.
